Caring Ministries
One of the deepest aspects of what it means to be the church, God's community on Earth, is to "not look not only for your own interests, but also for the interests of others" (Phil 2:4). The reality is that because we live on a fallen planet, there are seasons when we desperately need the care of a community. Whether it's a period of sickness, the pain of a divorce, the loss of a loved one, or simply being overwhelmed by life.At SPC we recognize this need for care for one another and try our best to respond. It's not unusual for one of our Stephen Ministers to care for a person who is shut-in, for months at a time, even if they're not a member of our church. Or, for one of our Deacons to pick someone up to take them to the store or to get groceries, or for one of our small groups to make meals for someone who just exited the hospital.
At SPC, we organize our caring ministries in four primary ways: Deacons, Encouragers, Stephen Ministers, and our Prayer Team.
