Pack-A-Back

Dear SPC Congregation,
We are used to hearing about the importance of education for our children's future. Everyone benefits from a well-educated community, one in which each child has the chance to rise above economic barriers, but in order for every child to thrive, the community must come together to invest in their success.
 
What does this mean to those of us who want to help?
 
The troubling reality is that there is a growing number of families in Santa Clara County who struggle to provide their children the school supplies necessary to build the foundation for a successful school year. Giving students the appropriate tools helps ensure that they have an opportunity to learn and can keep up with their classmates and assignments.
 
Sacred Heart Community Service in downtown San Jose will be holding its annual Pack-a-Back Program in August to make certain that children in need receive a strong send-off to the 2009-10 academic year. http://www.sacredheartcs.org/pdf/Pack-A-Back.pdf
Want to make a difference in the life of a child in need? Here are three ways you can help:
•    Make a financial gift and let us do the shopping
•    Donate new backpacks and school supplies using our supply list
•    Inspire your group to help us meet our goal of distributing 1500 new backpacks
